对我国学生的口语整体印象是什么样的?我国考生在口语中较常见的扣分点是什么?下面我们来看一下雅思口语中较常见的扣分点是什么?
Dr. IELTS: Memorization. Memorization. Memorization. Memorization with answers in part 1 and part 2. The top four phrases that are memorized are: broaden your/my horizon, different people have different opinions, it depends, and relieve my stress/pressure.
My best advice is to never use any of those four ever again in speaking nor writing. I know some examiners that will automatically give 5s for vocabulary when they hear any of the above because they know it is not original. I can tell you almost verbatim (word for word) answers candidates will say to certain part 1 questions and part 2s.
For example, a lot of male candidates will talk about basketball regardless of the topic. I know they will either talk about Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and/or Michael Jordan. What else can you say? We know that is familiar language to the candidate, so tell us something that will make us think, “What is the highest score we can give this candidate?” If you are going to use higher level words like agile, frugal, utmost, and mindset, you better be able to explain those words and/or find other ways to express similar meanings if you want to get a 7 and higher in vocabulary.
Another impression we get as examiners towards the candidates is regarding the lower level candidates. It sounds terrible, but we always wonder why people who know their English is so bad still take the test? Maybe it is parental or peer pressure, but no one should take any language test if they are not adequately prepared. I have tested candidates who have only said, “Yes, no, and I am sorry.” That is it. So what is the point of paying over 2000 RMB to take something you know you won’t be good at? Immerse yourself into an English environment and I guarantee your English will improve.
